Calling

The Call Panel indicates when someone is on a call with a Line Busy icon. It also shows the connected person’s number and the duration of the call as well as a number of mid-call options. The Call Panel gives a sign of you being asserted by the system and call state. The call state shows whether the call is ringing, connected, on hold, etc. If you see a closed padlock, this means that the call is encrypted. If it’s open, it’s not encrypted. This is a security setting enabled by the administrator. You can also see the network quality on your side as well as on the other side in the Call Panel.

To make a normal call, look up the person in the contact list and click Dial number from the contact panel or enter a name or number. If search by name, you will need to select the contact, for example with you arrow keys, before pressing enter. You can also search by department or information in the free text fields. These are set by the administrator. If you click on your contact’s vCard, you can email them by clicking the email icon.

If you want to make an intercom call, where you can’t hear the person you’re calling, search for a contact using the contact list and click Intercom Call from the contact panel. This is only available when the contact has at least one device that supports Intercom, and may not be allowed to all users even though the Intercom call button is shown. If it’s not enabled, and you try make a call, you will get an error.

MiCloud also supports callto links and Tel URLs on web pages, which are phone numbers as links. Just click on the link, and MiCloud will automatically call the number. To set this function up, click the Handle callto button and go to Advanced settings. In the Default Programs in the Control panel in Windows, choose MiCloud, then select “Set this program as default”. If you have Skype installed, it will try to override your callto setting, so always make sure you start MiCloud after Skype.

MiCloud’s advanced call options include Diversion bypass, Intrude ongoing call, Call with role, and Call with selected device. All of these options are available in the Call menu option.

Bypass diversion rules – this overrides any diversion set, and only applies to the next call. This function may not be available for all users, and requires authorisation.

  • Intrude ongoing call – this will intrude a call if the line is busy, and only applies for the next call. This function may not be available for all users, and requires authorisation.
  • Call As – use Call with role when you want to make a call and want a specific number to come up. To do this, select a role from the Call as This option only applies to the next call. Once the call is made, the role is reverted back to the current role.

Call With – this can be used if you want to set up your call using MiCloud but want to actually handle the call using another device. To do this, select one of the available options from the Call with list and make the call. Once you select an option, it will be the default way MiCloud will make calls. If you select a device other than the current device, a message in the live aid area will be displayed, telling you that you the call is being made using another device.

If you want to save a conversation, press Record to start recording. When you want to end the recording, just press Stop. To listen to the recording, go to the Log in your Inbox, or go to Tools > Inbox.

The conference service is dependent on your license. This is to ensure security, because the license dictates how many total simultaneous dial-in conference participants are allowed in the system.
