Microsoft Office Applications

Just when you thought MiCloud couldn’t get any smarter, it allows you to call from Microsoft Office applications. All it needs is an add-in that is loaded by Microsoft Office. The OutlookAddin.dll file is installed with the application and appears as a toolbar in Microsoft Outlook. Call <select a contact> and Call with mobile must be visible on the toolbar in Microsoft Outlook for it to work properly. To activate Call <select a contact>, click on the Contacts button. MiCloud works equally well in Office 2003 and Office 2007/2010, with the add-in appearing on the toolbar in Microsoft Office 2003, and under the Add-Ins ribbon in Microsoft Office 2007/2010.

Making a call using Microsoft Outlook is as easy as starting MiCloud, selecting the Contacts button in the left navigation pane, and selecting Call (select a contact) in the menu bar. All the contact numbers can be seen in different views, and the correct number can be selected from the call button drop down menu. Different calling options are available, if they have been configured on the server. These include Call with Mobile, Call with SIP desktop phone, and Call with MiCloud, and can be selected with a button in the drop down menu next to the Call <name of contact>.

You can also use the smart tag in a Microsoft Office application to make a call. This is as simple as entering the phone number in the correct format into the selected Microsoft application, clicking on the i icon and selecting the Smart tag Options in the drop down menu. These are:

  • Call: (phone number)
  • (Product name)
  • Remove this Smart Tag
  • Stop recognizing “(phone number)”
  • Smart Tag Options…

The smart tag option allows you to tick the check box label data with smart tags under the Smart Tags tab, and tick the check boxes that apply to Word/Excel/PowerPoint under recognisers.

MiCloud can pick up contacts from your Outlooks contact list, so finding their details is as simple as entering the name of the contact in the dial number field.
